Hmmm, I can play them from the dropbox, so why won't the links work?
Try again

give me another clip of both sensors free revving slowly from idle to redline in neutral please.Comment

Which car is this from. Is it the coupe. Not sure how you made these recordings but have you tried it on your other cars.
Dimitri could detect knock on my engine through his ear piece when he started to map it. May be he is the man to answer your questian.
I assume you used a microphone. Can you hear anything ar all without it.
Before my last engine blew I could hear A similar sound with my ancient ears, but it seemed to be coming from the car not the engine. It sounded like somthing court in the brake disc, or wheel, but I was wrong. Good luck. I hope somone can throw some light on this for you, and put your mind at rest

Lou, These are recorded from the knock sensors themselves, which are microphones. I made a lead which plugs into the knock sensor so I can record it with the laptop using windows sound recorder. The details are on Marc's site. And no, I can't hear detonation, I did hear it when I tried the RS2 software and injectors, it was quite bad like a crackling noise.
Marc, I couldn't get idle to redline in neutral due to the launch control kicking in, I'll need to get Dmitri to tell me how to turn it off. In the meantime here are a couple more files, idle to about 4k and a third gear pull where it goes into limp mode even with a spare sensor plugged to the ecu.
I've spotted that the rear knock sensor seems to have a crack in the plastic, I'll investigate further but it will probably be when I get back home in about 10 days.

I had a listen in my office where I could crank the volume a bit louder. I think your engine is just mechanically noisy. listening to both files I think whats throwing you off is something clacky driven by the motor or perhaps some wonky driveline mounts (or on the opposite side of the spectrum mounts that are super stiff and transmitting vibrations). does your engine have a distributor? those gears can sometimes be noisy.
if I filter out the resonance I'm speaking of I dont hear any other high frequency sporratic events that tip me off to detonation. I think its fine.Comment

Thanks for the feedback.
It's a 3b so I'm still running the dizzy for the hall sensor. Wishbones are polybushed and subframes powerflex. I'm logging knock mostly on cyl 4 with occasional knock on other cylinders. Sometimes there's a noise maybe like a bad lifter but it comes and goes. Also there's sometimes a stumble as you push the throttle down, like its holding back a bit. Strange, I don't know what to do other than strip and inspect, no time to do so at the moment though.Comment
