Well if Dialynx fitted a map sensor its likely they also used whatever SW they retailed.
As you say there were mild tunes. I recall MTM did a modest one (apart from the price) which didn't seem value for money.
Apart from the sw there are the usual boost leaks to eliminate. Seem to recall that to get the higher figures you would be in the 1.9bar peak region tapering off toward the red line.
So some research on the sw might be worthwhile. It might even be on here somewhere.

Defo has no boost leaks, did a 2.5 bar boost leak test.

Top end full rebuild was recent.
The car peaks about 1.7 and holds about 1.5, so this could be it.

As well as the N300 upgrade , Nothelle also did a 380hp package for the rs2, I've never seen one in the flesh, typically nothelle debadged the turbo id plate , also as Robin indicated be useful to know what s/w is currently running, nothelle id will be visible via vagcom etc

Spoke to Andy at AET today.

Much more helpful than I expected and had all the information, familiar with this and the RS2 Turbos..

The VT 109 is a K26 with their own turbine wheel (slightly larger than RS2) and a standard RS2 cold side.
He said it should make more power than an RS2 turbo.

Its looking like the issue is the software, and this was also the suggested by Andy at AET.

Problem is, I don't think I can use a generic map on this turbo.

But what was the hotside size?, bigger wasn't always better and the K26 range of turbo's notoriously under perform for their size.

            What injectors are you running?

Maybe just get it mapped and take it from there. Don't ask me who's best to map it though!, as I've been away far too long and can't be bothered with tuner wars

Is a standard RS2 turbo limited by the hotside or coldside?

Its probably the compressor hence the billet development!
Here is a respected opinion on what this turbo's hotside is:

I asked if it was just a #6 hotside and he said no. I should have written down the exact specs, but it seems they did their own development on it.
However, it should be no worse power than RS2 equipped car.

                  Jamo, it has - Bosch "984" RS2 injectors. & 044 pump, also -
                  Genuine RS2 intercooler
                  RS2 Ex Manifold
                  RS2 Airbox
                  3 bar map sensor

All the above by Dialynx, and more recently-

                  De cat
                  3" Miltec

I have no idea what the std down pipe restricts it to, but I assume with the above parts and being healthy it should see 370 mapped?
So worth the cost of mapping for 40bhp gain.

I will have a look on the Vagcom later and see what the ECU has now.

I just removed the ECU from the car, it says "380 chipped" on the back.

I am trying to contact Dialynx now to confirm their numbers on the chips.

Ironically Nothelle I believe used the RS2 coldside mated to the 50mm K26#6 hotside, based on what info we have got from other members vehicles. We don't know whether you have the 50mm or 56mm, although you would only need to remove the downpipe to measure the exit. Unless you can read the numbers off the housing to see if we can ID it. Or email AET back and try and get whatever info you need related to the hotside!
The only simple modification to the hotside is to backcut the turbine wheel which is in theory a half measure towards fitting a larger turbine housing. However this will only move the boost charactestics further up the rev range much the same as ftting a larger turbine housing. Thats why I posted the comment earlier!
Other than its price and availability the RS2 turbo was a good match for sane power levels with the matching OE components. You may get away with some generic chips but it won't be optimal. If you want optimal then it will need to be live mapped and even then based on that previous post, it still might not get you the results you want.
It makes economic sense to get the most out of whatever components you have. After all you have arguably better components than the Nothelle originally had. Other than the downpipe and turbo its basically all RS2. Therefore as you say there should be a bit more to come if whatever sw you can obtain allow the potential.
Guess it all comes down to the cost benefit ratio!

I think the table has turned on this, because I originally wanted to up the power from 330 to 370/380. = what do I need...oh I already have it.

After investigating the Turbo (thanks guys) AET said its better than an RS2 turbo and will have a bit more power in the high rev range. So the turbo is not the hold up.

I then thought I had unchipped RS2 spec - but found the ECU has "chipped 380" written on, and the man at Dialynx said they look to be their chips (gave numbers) but is calling back to confirm on Monday.

If he confirms what I suspect - this should be 380hp and has a 50bhp missing. There are no boost leaks so I hope the Vagcom tells me something.

My thoughts were the same - it has been upgraded from N300 (old dyno showed 320hp and lots more TQ) a man spent about 5k on this set up and gained nothing.

I will buy a better down pipe ASAP and when I remove it I will measure the turbo exit.

I agree the generic chips wont be 100%, but at the moment it looks like the ones in it were made for the car.

Yep, and gave the to Dialynx who tuned the car to its current spec. He will confirm the numbers on Monday, it was 10 years ago..

Forgot to say, it still has its Nothelle polished head, I think that is the only Nothelle part remaining.

As far as I recall, Dialynx did not map Motronic. Therefore they must be from another source. Thats why we were asking about the ecu field to see if any clues pop up. In fact even the ecu variant would be interesting to see if its based on ABY or RS2 sw which is quite important as the ecu needs further mods to run RS2 sw.
