    Boost cut...

Got the new chips in and been giving it all a good test over the weekend.

Had the boost cut kick in with the 00544 code a few times. Oddly seems to hold 1.8 bar most of the time but occasionally isn't happy when coming on boost from low RPM.

Boost leak test to be done, anything else to check?

When you say low revs, is it in a high gear too? Not sure on your turbo but it may be surging which the ECU won't like.

          Boost cut...

MAF connector, gently clean between the mating surfaces of the female pins with 1000 grade wet and dry, you have to remove the pins from the connector to do this. Or fit new pins. Lube with silicon dielectric grease.
          Definitely boost leak test.

Does sound like the MAF connector as Newsh said, cleaning them out sorted it for me no problems since

Same for me. It was scary how good mine used to run after a good squirt of contact cleaner. I had a boost leak sorted once ages back but the MAF connector was always the culprit for me (normally when some punk was giving it stacks in the rear view mirror)

MAF was fine on the old chips the day before so unlikely but I'll clean it up anyway. What grease do I need? Maplin or similar do some?

Caig Deoxit I think is the recommended stuff but I used some from Halfrauds, as I couldnt find any good stuff locally. Mine would be fine for months, then suddenly start to play up with no warning. It was odd. It could of course be something else but for ease of trying, it is worth a shot

The Rev counter doesn't momentarily go to 0 then jump back up ?

Sorry for jumping in on your thread.

Why are you asking about the rev counter going to zero and then back up.

Has this happened to you before?

Although I have not driven my car for about three years mine did that a few times the last time I drove it.

Any idea what causes that fault?

For me it was the chips, it was very odd. They were ts chips and would work fine in other peoples cars but not mine...I tried another ts chip set and it resolved it straight away.

Not insinuating your chips are no good for one minute but I remember it taking me almost 12 months to find the fault with mine and yet it was something so simple,I'd hate for anyone to go through what I did!

Thanks for the info but my rev counter was dropping to zero with the standard setup OEM from factory.

Have all the parts for the RS2 setup waiting to be fitted.

Would like to have sorted this before the fitting of the new stuff.

Orsum, would be worth starting a new thread. Check the operation of your tps switch and isv which can cause the issue you describe

Going to get a heavy-duty boost leak test and check that the WG isn't sticking shut a bit too. Will clean the MAF up and I've also got a set of stck chips I can run, to get things on the straight and narrow.
