    Engine not starting...

    Hi,

I bought an AAN engine from a not starting project, golf2r32 member. And I have the same problems like him...no spark and fuel from the injectors, but I have +12 in the connectors

I checked all positives and grounds, hall, speed & firing point sensors....the ecu connector with the ecu pluged, I have all the signals but I can see the shape because I'm still waiting for a osciloscope

The ecu works fine in my s2, starts the engine

The wiring loom for my project has inmo, may I need to do something with this connector or leave it alone??

And my question is if the timing is out, does the ecu cuts fuel and spark??

    Thanks, thanks, thanks!!

Is the engine turning over quickly enough? I seem to remember that it needs to spin at something like 13rpm before triggering fuel/spark

Potential Solutions Why your AAN isn't starting

That is correct. The ECU needs to get a reading from the G28 engine speed sensor that is > 13 RPM before it will trigger the J17 fuel pump relay which controls much more power than just the fuel pump.

Immo?? I don't know...the wiring loom has the connector and I leave it alone, I think that it will be...and the ecu fire up my s2

The fuel pump relay, I have fuel because I did a mod in the stock fuel pump wiring, works when you put ignition and I put a swich to cut the ground fuel pump when I need to stay long time with the ignition on but the engine off. I don't use the ecu signal. Also I have fuel in the tank

I'm going to read at home your link "Potential solutions why your AAN isn't starting"

You still have to engage the J17 fuel pump relay via the ECU if you hope to get your engine to start.

Have you checked if the pin on the flywheel is not missing in action?

The main reason to feed the fuel pump relay is to have +12 in S72/72/75 fuses, is right?? I feed those fuses by +12 switched ...or I also need to put a relay to be "detected" by the ecu

yes mate, I checked in the ecu connector with the ecu pluged, when It cranks the voltaje changes....and the fault codes after cranking is only the speed sensor

I changed it for another one who I had...but the sensor who was fitted in the engine was new and the pulley is good

Tomorrow I'll check the ground for the coil harness swap(all the coils has +12 in one wire) and the +12 injectors...because I remember that I have +12 in both wires and I think that the ecu control the injectors duty by ground not with positive.....

But did you check if there is a pin on the flywheel?

yes...I put it in the same place as a 3b flywheel and isn't far from the sensor. I checked the audi info to know the maximum distance between sensor and pin

                        You "put it"?

Are you sure the pin is at TDC?

If you get 12v to injectors it sees the RPM, if it doesn't fire it usually means can't get sync between the triggers. That means crank position sensor and cam sensor.

And it won't throw a code for the crank sensor half the time if it doesn't see it, since essentially it doesn't run half the stuff in the ECU before it gets a signal from it.

What I think is that it's very strange have the same problems as golf2r32

It's either wired incorrectly or you don't have cam sync if there is no fuel from injectors.

yes mate, I put the 3b over the kv flywheel, with bolts. The flywheel only has one position in the crank, as you know, and I put both in the same position. I know that this pin is very important and before doing I checked several times, fitting the 3b and kv in the crank and searching the same bolt position in the crank, counting teeths, all to have the same position. The old flywheel was the AAN and didn't fire up...had the same problems as I have
