    Wrong turbo?

Going rs2+ on my 1992 3b should once complete be between 370-390bhp.

The turbo i have is a k26, is this going to cause me any issues? Have read its noticeably more laggy than the k24 7200?
Also, if the k24 7200 is of rs2 origin, what was the k26 usually fitted to? Porsche 944 turbo??

    Cheers, Dave.

If you do some research I think you will find that the K26 was on many Audi 10 valve turbo engines. It really is not the best fit for the 20 valve turbo engines (3B, AAN, ABY), at least not without some help. You'd be better off using the Volvo K24-7400 or the Garrett GT2871 hybrid offered by 034 Motorsports:

That's quite a bit more than i was hoping to spend! Would a k24 7200 hybrid be ok?

Hybrid? The RS2 ADU turbo *IS* the K24 7200.

Sorry yeah what I meant was would it pay to go hybrid rs2 turbo as stated in the link the standard k24 7200 can run out of puff a little when getting to around the bhp I'm expecting to be producing.
I'd rather have a turbo that's good for 425bhp and know it's safe than to be using a turbo right on the limit of its max power.

If your plans do not yet include upgrading your ignition system also to ABY/ADU/AAN, i.e. individual coils, I would urge you to change your plan.

                    Best wishes.

Given how much hassle it is to get a 3B mapped I'd go for the tried and tested RS2 components along with some good generic software.

Upgrading the ignition system to coil packs isn't a bad idea and does open up mapping options as you then use an AAN/ABY/ADU ECU with appropriate software.

Whatever you do make sure the current dissy set up (plugs, leads, coil etc) is in good order before running high boost.

                          What K26 do you have?

There are lots of different k26 turbos, a stock 10v audi k26 will not make any more power than a stock k24.

Cheers Kit. I do still have that ecu I bought off you that you got from rocco. Hammond is it? Can't remember off top of my head the name.

I literally have no idea. Got told it was from a rs2 but seriously doubt that now.
I'll have a look soon and post up my findings.
