There are 2 sensor wires that can easily be accidentally swapped over and give weird warnings, check that everything is hooked up ok, from memory the 2 wires are near the dip stick but it's been a long while since I've seen my car..
Urgent! K-Jet (not) running issues again

...the oscar for solving this running issue on my 90 quattro goes to quattro-nick!
Started the car which was no problem with a cold engine, got out of the car immediately played a bit with the throttle with my right hand and adjusted the CO screw anti-clockwise and it ran ok
It also starts better now when warm but will go to a local garage to do some finetuning.
A member on the Dutch type8185 forum told me that the oil pressure alarm is related to low voltage in one way or another. Will have to look into the wiring and the alternator as the battery light is lit almost constantly now and the voltage at the battery when running is just above 12V.
Many thanks guys for your help

Tuning the idle mixture is super easy, no need to throw money at a garage.
On a warm engine, hook a multimeter with duty cycle reading, or simply a dwell meter and adjust it so that it fluctuates around 50% duty (or 45 degrees on the dwell meter).
You want the mixture adjusted so that the frequence valve has a duty cycle of approx 50% at idle, so that it can make adjustments (via the OXS and Jetronic box) in order to keep AFR at stoich.
On my Golf, I'm using the Innovate LC-1 wideband controller to give me programmable, closed loop target AFR even at WOT. Works fabulous for running various mixtures of ethanol and petrol. True flex fuel capability.
Programmed to 15.3 at cruise (don't have a cat) and 12.6 at WOT.
Check your Bentley/Haynes manual for specifics (or google it).
Check timing/idle speed as well and adjust accordingly. All three (timing/mixture/idle speed) will have an effect on each other.Last edited by EspenW; 2 July 2015, 00:05.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)

i know that the oil buzzer is also related with rpm signal!(was a problem with my AAN conversion)
i woud first replace the 2 oil pressure switches!audi coupe quattro b2 2.2 20vt project (573hp-626nm)

The car will go to the garage anyway to have the brake fluid refreshed so I doubt it will cost me a tenner extra. Yes I know I could do the brake fluid myself as well but as I'm rebuilding our garage at the moment I have got zero spare time. Got saturday booked to work on the car, change engine, gearbox and diff oil, oil and fuel filter, fix the exhaust, change alternator, fit a radio etc. Lots to do still.
Oh and I don't have multimeter, let alone one with duty cycle reading (what do these look like?) and where should I hook it up to?
I want to have the ignition timing checked as well, what should it be like on a KV engine? Did it on my first 90 quattro once at college hooked up to a computer so I could read the timing in degrees, made quite a difference set to max. timing that was allowed.
@Nick those senders are new by the looks of it, pretty sure it is an alternator or wiring problem. Hopefully the one from my 4000 quattro fits, I believe it has the alternator at the radiator side because of the aircon pump.Comment
