    S2 EM - what's the limit?

What's the hp limit for the stock EM? I read somewhere that you can't bolt a RS2 turbo to it - but I also found posts claiming that it will fit.

Maybe I should take it from the beginning. I want 350-380hp for my daily driver. I currently have a fried ECU and a 3" catback. Sure, it runs fine but I want more. I was thinking along yhe lines of:

    -RS2 turbo, injectors
    -7A ex cam
-RS2 airbox (no cone for me...)

What do I do? I want the turbo to sit in the stock position and I want 350-380hp. Possible? What I mean is - how far can I go without changeing the EM? The EM is probably the most expensive part next to mapping. Any ideas? Oh, I'm thinking of building a custom EM (I can get hold of flanges dirt cheap!) but the question is - can I build it to fit the turbo in the stock position? What diameter should I run on the primarys? Probably as big as the exh port in the cyl.head.

It's late and I'm tired. Kick me in the right direction here. Do I need a "better" EM or will I be ok with the stock one?

As I know, the limit on the RS2 EM is about 380-400 hp, so I cant imagine that the stock s2 EM can handle that power. So for that goal, You have to change almost everything to RS2 standard to be able to get the desierd HP.

    Cheers

Limit for stock EM is about 330bhp.

RS2 EM is good for up to ~380bhp. Ahh maybe a little more, but with RS2 turbo the limit is 380bhp maximum.

Henka - trust me on this one - go with the tried and trusted route with the RS2 turbo, along with RS2 EM, the green injectors, 7A cams and of course an RS2 intercooler. All bolt on parts - easily remapped with tried and trusted known limits. Gobs of torque available, decent driveability and plenty of top end.

A decent mapped RS2 installation is the best compromise for road cars that need more than 350bhp and some decent mid range torque and driveability off boost.

The Rs2 EM limit is about 420hp i believe.
But Doug was still using his recently with about 450hp.
The stock manifold will do 320 ish but i wouldnt try any more because cylinders 1 + 5 can run lean.
If i were you i would get the RS2 manifold, do everything in one go. I wish i did that first.
The RS2 turbo will fit the stock manifold BTDT.

Did he really get that much from the RS2 EM - I thought he had the MTM 'S1' manifold - or was that MarkH come to think of it ?

I have also heard of many people in Germany having ca. 450 HP with RS2 manifold!

i have 405HP/540Nm with stock AAN EM and 1.2bar boost, but it's stroker, cams, KKK26/Holset HX40 and stand alone ECU. The boost is from 3500 to 6500 1.2bar.

Have You torque tested this in a Dyno?? All trying and calculation I have heard of says that 400 is the absolute maximum of this EM. I know there has been sold kits that claims 450+ with bolt on turbo an air filter and maybe injectors, but hey.... Get real!

Dougs, car was on a dyno and did 450bhp and about 600Nm, with an RS2 manifold.

this is going off topic now, the stcok manifold will take the RS2 turbo, but it isnt worth it. The flow just isnt good enough and will lead to engine damage.

Yeah ok.. I'll have in the back of my mind but EM's aren't really cheap so maybe I'll stick with the stock EM and aim for like 330-340 instead... But I'm also looking into building a EM myself.

You can buy a good pre-used RS2 manifold for about £200 in the UK

In Sweden used ones are about €600... Guess why I'm wondering about the limit of the stock one? Well, I've seen ads with used RS2 turbo and injectors (low milage, tested and so on) for less than that - only €500 for the whole lot.

RS2 EM - I am close to 450bhp on the road with it, but that is as much as I will take it.
