    S2 ABY water pump

In the process of gathering parts for a timing belt change on my avant (no easy task )

Ordered water pump number 054 121 004AV as per s2central guide (26 teeth). Surprisingly i was told £79 +vat not too bad i thought.

Collected parts today and invoice says 054 121 004AX which i've also read is correct for ABY on the forum. This number matches the box from audi so i thoughti've cracked this, i can get car booked in to get the job done.

Always double, no, triple check! Number stamped on pump is 054 121 019A
It has 29 teeth which is supposedly RS2 spec or am i getting myself totally confused here?

Have i just bagged myself a RS2 water pump by mistake The irony is i believe my car runs RS2 water pump/belt setup, but i was planning on changing it back to ABY setup for simplicity!

    RS2 ADU = 26 teeth

    AAN/ABY = 29 teeth

I count 29 teeth = ABY (or AAN)

Quick as ever Have you seen this part number before Dave? Is it a replacement for 054 121 004AX

So this guide has wrong information about teeth count

        have a look here

Don't bother some "technical" suggestionson that thread for your S2 sake....

On my post #9 you'll find the link to the RS2 pump on Audi Tradition shop (brace yourself for the price tag) according with etka and audi tradition the part number for the RS2 it's 034121004BX

My opinion it's that the number you have on your pump it's simply a superceeded part number.
Like: it was this # but now it's this #

My good friend, Kate, the friendly parts girl, did leave school early, back in 2007, so she might not have all the up-to-date info. I asked her about 054121019A and all I got in return was a blank "WTF?" (Not in Stamm) stare.

054121004AX is the AAN, ABY, NG and AAR water pump.

034121004 X is the KV, NM, 7A and 3B water pump.

034121004B is the RS2 ADU water pump.

I am surprised that S2central is wrong but on teeth counts, it is.

Thanks, yes i seen this thread on RS2 belt/pump. It was just the different part number and the guide with the teeth numbers the wrong way which had me confused.

Sounds like i have ABY pump so that's fine.

Now you need that 151 tooth timing belt for sure.

I'm surprised no one has picked up on this before either
