    oil pump drive

As you may know I had a loss off oil pressure in my AAN engine in my s1e2 rallycar,
my question is . does the oil pump and cam belt drive on front of the crank share a common key way??
Iam halfway through removing the engine and ive had the thought that this may explain lack of pressure and if the cam drive has moved lack of compression as the timing moved as well????
    thanks

The answer is no. The oil pump is drive off a four lug "washer" (aka "lever") on the crankshaft, independent of the key way at the nose of the crank that is for the cam belt sprocket.

          Maybe a blocked pickup?
I guess you could do with a dry sump anyway

is the bottom end knocking ? or is just the head tappets rattling if just the head it could poss be the oil check valve in the side of the engine block , it could be blocked which will stop oil flowing to the head and will also show zero oil pressure on your gauge which connects just above the oil check valve

You happen to install ARP studs for the crank caps?

It is possible to crush the check valve when installing the No. 3 main cap bolt without the cap or a main cap stud, e.g. an ARP stud that is too long. This can result in the check valve ball being unable to return to its seat when the engine is off. This allows the oil to drain down out of the head when the engine is off. As result, this will lead to wear issues on the camshaft during the period of rotation before the engine oil is again pumped back up into the head. Cam follower ("lifter") performance might also be impacted or compromised by this damaged check valve.

Here is a photo showing both a damaged and a good check valve. You can see how the valve body has been crushed on the valve on the left:

I would have thought if it was a damaged check valve it would have shown up before now, the lack of compression may very well be the fact that the lifters have bleed out therefore valves aren't working as they should , so I'am still leaning toward a oil supply problem pump failure or maybe it is the check valve ???
It has a 034 oil pump in it. As for the dry sump option all the previous data from motec shows nice constant pressure , no surge so I think it maybe ok
Iam not doing the engine work myself so ill wait and see what he finds??
                  thanks

found it , the pump drive gear that is sweated onto the crank isn't anymore, its spinning therefore no pump drive, anyone came across this if so whats the fix
                          thanks

Thats just really bad luck sorry to hear Mal. I have heated one on to a crank before and then i changed over to Dry sump and took it off. It had to come off with a grinder. Maybe a new one and a couple of tack welds whilst hot?

not sure about the welding?? iam going to get a new one to measure and I was thinking of getting a billet one made with smaller ID ?? worried it might happen again but at high rpm and toast, at this stage everything has survived as I caught it in time, surely I cant be the first to have this happen?? or is it just my luck
                              thanks
