I am just about to put a built bottom end in and it has an AAN pulley. Its alot neater looking. I was looking at alternator from a vauxhall combo van with the vacuum pump on the back for the brakes plus it is a bit smaller. Not worked out the RPM yet.

What brackets and tensioner were you going to use?

I would just make some up, I moved my ABY alternator using an AC bracket chopped about. There will be other alternators that do the same thing with the same pulley, my mate just had a combo and I happened to notice.

I am using a 3B pulley with a V-belt to drive the alternator. I wouldn't chose this set up if I was going to build another engine. I have had issues with the belt flipping and coming off when the engine hits the rev limiter.

Managed to sort it by using the back V belt as its deeper. Definitely easier with the multi ribbed set up.

One nice thing about the serpentine belt setup is there's an OEM shorter length belt to accommodate for no AC, so we're covered for either application.

What else do we need to consider, making the swap from v-belt to serpentine?
