I am going for standalone ECU on my urs4,and i read here about people complaining on Vems, but still there is people who love it.And i have been offered Nira i3 ECU.
Would like to hear your opinions on this ECU's?
P.S. i never heard for Nira ecu before
The only problem with vems is getting the crank sensor trigger setup. It just hates some flywheel setups. But once you sort that I have had zero issues. I like it so much I bought a second vems ecu for ny Quattro project.

nira was good choice at it's time, but it's time passed, it's even discontinued for about 3 years or something, nira problem, to small amount of inputs and outputs, only supports generic trigger wheels, no knock, no speed, no boost by gear or speed, no individual fuel trims, no ignition trims, no anytrim controll, no wideband controller inside, no wideband realtime feedback I have mapped both, nira and vems, vems really has good price for what he does
Nira is a very good ecu been around for a while and has a good scandanavian following, depends how far you want to take it. VEMS is a great entry level ecu and does a great job but you'll understand the limitations once you get more complex with it.

It depends what you want to do with your car Des, VEMs does the simply things well but the more complex loops and feedback are not really available however i've not seen the latest firmwares.
As stated decide what you are doing with your car, if it's driven alot i'd use the stock if possible or splash out a bit more for a newer ecu. The weekend car, the drag, the track go for vems does what it says on the tin.
Saying all this one thing you cannot overlook is local ecu support, make sure the support network is there for any ecu you buy!
There is no local ecu support in my country(**** country...)
My goal is to drive like weekend car and for my own plesure since i am going for holset hx35(already buyed the turbo) the car will deffinetly not be for evry day using
