It's a fairly recent firmware. Again idle is good but not as stock motronic. Probably a bit more adjustments would help, but then the weather changes and idle is off again.
Yes vems uses wideband lambda for feedback and you can set when it should use it. Eg wot and max.boost etc.
Can a WBO2 be used to correct things in real time?
In theory I guess but I don't think it would ever be fast enough or accurate enough the AFR needs to stabilise before the lambda can read it accurately. No need anyway really, a couple hours on a good dyno with a decent operator and sensor hardware and you can have your VE table recalibrated correctly. Not a problem if you leave your setup alone, if you alter anything that will affect the VE then you really need to revist it.
It's true, it needs someone who knows what they're doing on the road or on a dyno. But that's the same with any custom tune really. I spent a few hours with the emulator tweaking my VE this afternoon and gave up in the end, I'm still getting ecu dropouts and at one point the boost gauge went right round the dial, like 3 Bar.. scary..
So I've just sacked off the Mafless tuned ECU and gone back to an RS2+ custom MRC tune in another ecu that I've built, ok I know the turbo is a bit big for it and I'll have to be careful till it's properly dialed in but at least it's driveable.
4.9 lamda but 4.2 as well is pretty quick and even modern maf cars use both sensors to control mixture but without a properly tuned VE map the lamda won't be able to handle everything. The smaller the deviation the easier it gets.
