Try remapped ABY first, will be pretty quick in a ~1200kg car

RS2 spec is a good option as all OEM bolt-on kit and will give you a very reliable 360ish hp with plenty of good off-the-shelf tunes for you to run, in your ABY ECU.

    Basics:
    RS2 turbo
RS2 exhaust manifold or other suitable higher flowing manifold
    RS2 injectors
    Suitable sized intercooler
Good sized downpipe & exhaust (not absolutely necessary but will help - RS2 used 2.75")
    Suitable software

You will need plenty other small bits too, but that is the bare bones.

If its balanced then i thing there will be no problem,as long it has pickup for the sensor in the right place you will be fine

HOYLE you need 10V turbo flywheel not a 20v turbo!!!! audi 200turbo 10v or urq 10v turbo flywheel only!

I think I may have been confused then. I think I can only use a 3B flywheel, if the 3B was in a 200qt. Not sure the UK had any of those!

you cant use 3b flywheel, when i bought my engine i had to sell the flywheel and find 200t flywheel

And you need to use urq intercooler with the swap but im not sure if its enough for rs2 spec

When i done my project i was recomended to use only urq or 200turbo flywheel.at least its tested by many people and it works 100%
other flywheels have pick up point at different places.

I could swear that you can use 3B and 7A flywheels. They're both single mass and not recessed! But I thought they had to be coupled to a URQ clutch kit.

Either way, I have a fidanza 4kg flywheel I could use with the URQ clutch kit, but would this affect the balance of the bottom end?

Yes quattrostyle is right!you need urq or audi 200 turbo flywheel.on my 3b i used original 016 gearbox and used 3b clutch kit but 10v release bearing, and audi 200turbo flywheel, all you need to do is cut out a slot on 016 gearbox for the crank sensor.
I will add some pictures to my thread tonight so you have an idea where to cut the slot out etc...
i asked around for rs2 spec too and im really intrested in it but everyone recommend fitting new performans rods and full engine rebuilt as it will not cope with rs2 power... and people i know they running vems ecu on bigger specs.

The 3B flywheel is near identical to the above, but there may be a weight difference

AFAIK you will need a 200 20V or urq RR flywheel to match with the 016 box, but maybe also some 10V urq flywheels will fit?

    started a topic RS2+ spec

    RS2+ spec

Yep, another "how do I get XXXhp" thread!

It's hard to search these forums for terms such as "RS2", so I'm hoping another one of these threads might be the answer

I currenty have an ABY standard engine sat in my lockup. I'm considering what to do with it before it goes into my typ85 80q and I have a few questions.

Wiring & coupling to my 016 box shouldn't be an issues - I've got a 3B fly, 3B DP, URQ clutch kit & just need the needle bearing.

What does the RS2 spec consist of? Exhaust mani? Larger DP? Which injectors? Would I need to run a standalone ECU?

The engine will be stripped and at the very least have a head rebuild (if anyone can recommend a place that could port it too - that would be great).

Would I need to consider new mains & big ends? New rods? Would upgraded pistons be required?

I understand that all this does boil down to budget. In my case, I'm in no rush, so can gather the hardware in the meantime.

Really, I guess I'm after a good "bang for buck" spec, that's reliable and usable daily if required.

I hate being "that guy" throwing up another power level thread, but I'm not finding a great deal through the search tool.

    Please be gentle! Chris.
