3b turbo leak

Maybe I was completely wrong but have you checked that N75 and DV is properly connected? Many times people connects it at reverse position.

Hi.sorry.just had a look on forum.bit too late for that.....
I think it is a boost leak somewhere alongvthe way.will put standard ecu tomorrow after work.i can come and see you next weekend if that ok with you.

Yeah, if you were coming over in your S2 we could have micro 3B meet,. Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, hope the trip over goes smoothly.

It doesn't me long to do a leak test, got decent size compressor and I'm use to checking my car regularly.

Had a look at Tom's car this morning, took it for a quick spin before doing anything and it sounded like it had a massive boost leak and wasn't boosting properly at all, turns out the small bore pipe for the DV wasn't connected up. I put that right then did a leak check and found that the car held pressure really well, so no boost leaks...

Pulled the codes after replacing the fuse for the diagnostic port and cleaning the connections and got three.

03-00 - No Signal


Anyway while I was checking for leaks I noticed that the car is sporting an RS2 turbo but with stock injectors!

Took it out for a test drive with the same chipped ECU that was fitted when Tom arrived and it went like stink boosting properly but way too much for the current hardware set up. I didn't really push it but it clearly wanted to boost to to over 1.5 bar so we got back to mine and fitted an ECU that Tom brought along which I opened to confirm that the chips were stock.

I also opened the other ECU which had a set of chips I've never seen before, I can't remember what they said on them but Tom has written it down.

Another quick test drive and all's well boosting to 0.8 and really nice and smooth.

I did offer to disconnect the N75 to be totally safe but for the time being Tom has said he won't push the car until he's got some known RS2+ 3B software and RS2 injectors as well as a 7FPR.

He has a new N75 to fit, though the current one does now seem to be working and I suspect the 00516 - Closed Throttle (Idle) Position Switch (F60) code was due to a mis-adjusted throttle cable which I adjusted. I use to occasionally get that code at random myself but haven't had it since I removed the throttle damper.

On the way back car was behaving good.n75 is working ok now.was not pushing it as don't want to damage anything.
Finally I have got smile back on my face.disappointment disappeared now.now it's time to start sorting out all the other small bits and pieces.
Learned few things today, things that previous owner didn't even know.
Thank you again I really do appreciate what you have done for me today.it was pleasure meeting you.
Hopefully during the summer we will do some micro meet at mines with some bbq and talks?

No problem Tom, good to meet you and I'm glad I was able to help you enjoy your car as opposed to being disappointed with it after the time and money you've spent. The engine sounds lovely and it obviously wants to fly given what happened when I gave it a bit of throttle. The sooner that cone filters gone the better!

Yeah once summer's here it'll be good to able to go for a blast followed by some beer and burgers I have two mates with S/RS2's and I'm sure there's couple of other members in or close to Hereford.
