  • best oil filters for S cars?

Is it best to go get filters from the dealers? Or there's Mann; Mahle, Bosch..
    Any recommendations?

Just bought a couple of Mann filters. Have been using Bosch before without issues.

Mann, Mahle, or Bosch are all good. I always use Mann myself, which is what Audi supply with a markup.

no probs with any. does look a bit iffy a halfords white filter under tube and big turbo though

Hi Des, do you happen to have a photo of it fitted or on the bench, or maybe a part number ?

                      Thanks either way.

I would be wary of using other filters, physical fitment is only half of the story. I looked into the 719/5 and 719/30 versions before, the /5 being used in 10v 5cyl cars, and the /30 being used in 20v 5cyl cars. Both had the same physical dimensions, anti drain back valve, and the same rating of pressure relief valve. The difference was the filtration, the 20v versions filtered to a smaller micron level.

I don't know how a diesel filter compares to a petrol filter, but judging by how much soot contamination you see in diesel engines i doubt it filters any where near as well.

i have also test the oilfilter from the 2.5 tdi I5 but for me it was too big. same line like the underside of the oilpan. now i have the filter from Golf/rabbit MK III TDI, fits perfect
