Yeh they do seem rather cheap alright, however for what they are, a low pressure water pump just not sure if they warrant a £100 plus price tag. Thuppa is your pump still operating ok with no leaks etc several years later?
I'm tempted to have a punt on one at this price, if it was a fuel pump i would be making sure it was the genuine article but for a water pump to replace the copper pipe i have at the moment i'm thinking it might be ok.
I have bought some cheap things in the past, and not always they turn out to be bad quality. It must come with years warranty, I'd personally go for cheapo version

The shorter ones do indeed need the mounting rubber moved slightly but since the inlet manifold is off at the moment access is, well...... an improvement!!!!
Ordered a second hand one from a Vauxhall Omega with part number Bosch 0-392-020-034, has GM and Bosch stampings on it also so certainly looks genuine. No yellow passivate either but was only £30 so we'll see how it works. Got to better than copper pipe!!
I almost bought one from breakers yard but the coolant pump on the T4 they had was a different part number with the wrong electrical connection. Not sure if it was a transporter, not too clued up on VW's. Cheers for info though.
