It is a horrible idea to make the pump switching manual in any application IMO.

In the even of a crash the pump will keep going and you have a serious risk of the car catching fire and you burning to a crisp inside it.

This is why the fuel pump is deactivated by the ECU when the engine is not turning!
    It is a safety issue.

If I go down this route I will wire any new pump into the ECU via existing relay.

Can someone give me the flow rates for the standard 3B pump so I can match up an external one?

My updated plan is to do something like this with the vent pipe going to the filler cap recess with a turn over valve. The +ive feed for the pump will be via new wiring from the original relay and the -ive will be grounded to the chassis locally.

Just to confirm you want something like a 100 micron filter before the pump and 10 micron or tighter after. The flow rates for the stock pump were on s2central.

Cheers, I was looking at similar filters and will check s2central now.
