What stroke are you going for? There are 2 SA engines, 2.5 & 2.6 with the same bore but different strokes from my research. Its an effective 1.35mm difference but a difference none the less.

Theirs a company in Bath who can do it but they seem expensive to me. I'll check who's in Swindon.

95.5 the other had 92.8 from memory but the cost of that crank is big money.

To be honest the trouble with strokers is that somewhere along the line you need to drop £'s on some component or other. Even if you are fortunate enough to stumble over some Oettinger/GTi Engineering stuff it is usually damaged or otherwise irrepairable! Unless VAG actually made a version in a very similiar spec. As you will know VAG favoured an increase in block height on both the diesel and petrol 95.5mmX81mm configs.
Even those SA pistons might have different compression heights as the bore was the same but the stroke differed. If one or other version is based on the 220mm block then the answer is to source all the components from that engine. There does not seem to be a wealth on info on those variants.
What rods were you going to use as some 10V ones have smaller BE journals than the later 10V/20V/diesel etc.

Might be useful if you haven't seen it! Specifically the recipes!

Rods on my KV same as 7a ones so was going to use 7a as there rifle drilled unlike KV ones.
Thanks for that I have read it before but good to see it again.

Bottom line you either need custom rods or pistons or ideally both.

I don't think they changed the BE on the 10V until the later 2.3 engines. The 10V will be smaller by @2mm. It's been a while since I looked at all this. So the KV and 7A have the same C to C? Seem to recall that 10V stuff was less than 144m.

                    Error-maybe not.
twoqu-Makes sense as this is an early KV. I will check but I thought it was the same. I'll confirm tomorrow.

Hi Simon, I sold you the SA 2.5 pistons and rings. Why don't you use the 7a block as it looks identical to the kv and even has the mounting point for the fuel reg. No need to rebore then. Good luck with your build. Any questions just fire away

Hi Nev. I'm going to take a closer look at the two blocks later today and compare them and see what is/is not involved. Thanks appreciate it slow going but the parts are coming together. Cheers Simon

Have just finished my 2.6 short deck stroker and it runs sweet. List of what I used:
                          7a block
                          7a rods
                          95.5mm crank
                          2.5 SA pistons and rings.
Block required grinding of only one web for conrod clearance where sump mounts.
SA pistons skimmed off 1.35mm from the tops and slight machining off the bottoms for crank clearance.
The only difference between our two strokers is I've gone 20v with a 7a cyl head.
Your kv cyl head should fit straight on to the 7a block as I have done this before.
Will try and find some pics.

Look forward to seeing pic's. Yes noticed I would need to take a few mill off the skirts to clear the crank but I have not connected all the rods yet to check rod to sump clearance.
                            Is your conversion turbo'ed?

Have gone turbo as these pistons are perfect with the big dish for lower compression mated with the 20v head. Roughly works out at 9.3:1 same as standard 3b. Added valve cutaways for valve clearance.

Thanks Nev for posting pic's. That's good info. Are you using NG head gasket?
