i think for 50hp or more you need to go on a turbo route
you can choose for a ecu chip-other cams-k&n airfilter and bigger exhaust but i doubt that you wil gain 50hp................audi coupe quattro b2 2.2 20vt project (573hp-626nm)

Any idea where i could get the chip and those other things i already have Pipercross air filter ?Comment

As it's N/A, more "mechanical upgrades" are needed. Either you turbocharge it or you can port the head, lighten the valve train, lighten the flywheel. I have done this on my N/A Audi 80 2.0E ABK engine, and it runs much better than before. I've also skimmed the head more than usual, increasing the compression inside cylinders (16 bar in all 4), I'm running higher octane fuel and much more advanced ignition. It runs much better than my UrS4 off-boost.Comment

For a 2 valve per cylinder car with fast street cams, you're looking at 70-75bhp per litre, so in theory, 190bhp is achieveable with everything working as it should. In reality, the rarity of these engines means that exhaust manifolds, decent inlet manifolds, flowed heads and cams will be hard to find and very expensive, so basically, it's not worth it from a financial standpoint. For fun, maybe it is... I've played with a few 8V golfs and getting over 140bhp takes effort and 150bhp gets more serious still.
Replacing the engine with a larger capacity 30V unit will be the best route, or even getting a 2.8 setup in there, along with exhaust and inlet but all of that will cost £££ and you may be disappointed

I was gonna say this - buy a B5 A4 thats being broken and transplant! Quoted 193 bhp, however at the time German cars crossed a tax point at 193 bhp, which is why a whole raft of German motors all quoted 193 bhp. I sold a B6 S4 V8 and bought a house plus a 2.8 Avant to assist with the DIY, the 2.8 felt surprisingly sprightly coming from the S4!B5 B6 B7 B9Comment

Supercharging would propably be easier than turbocharging. I have no experience, but I would guess you can double the power with that engine and stock internals without problems. In bothe cases there would be some diy fabricating.
I don't know how the stock ecu will accept positive intake pressure, but you could feed the extra fuel with an external controller and injector/s. Or you could use an standalone ecu.

Fit a wet kit and you can have an instant 50bhp. A used wet kit on a switch could be good bang for buck, if you do it "properly" it will be £££.
If you want to play with it for fun then Mance's old stuff;
You could build the motor, all your standard NA tuning, high compression, cams, headers etc, but its not good value for money.
Turbo or supercharger if you have fab skills, but cost wise an engine swap would be the best bang for buck if you can buy A8s cheap where you are.
I always half fancied an ebay eaton from a merc/jag with a rising rate FPR and just see what happens with 5psi or so, stick it somewhere like this;
