    RS2 V-Stream 1.8 or 1.9bar

    Evening gentlemen,

I've been enjoying my RS2 converted coupe for a couple of months now. I had put it away for the winter but since we've been having nice, cold crisp weather the last few days i've taken it out of premature hibernation, for a few days anyway!!

Now then the car goes very well indeed, i had quite a few teething issues but they have been resolved now.

However one thing is still annoying me, i cannot for the life of me get 1.9bar out of the RS2 VStream chipset.

The most i get is 1.8bar, which i get every time i go WOT in fourth and fifth, sometimes in third i think??. Some people say these are 1.9 bar chipsets while other say 1.8 bar. Now then i know it's only 0.1 bar but if i'm supposed to be getting 1.9bar thats what i want it!!

I've done several boost checks and nothing obvious is showing up, altitude sensor has been tweaked and reading 1025mbar, TPS i think is ok, shows something like 98% open when foot on the floor and using vagcom and shows around 5.8 on idle.

I bought new knock sensors but have not fitted them, any ideas? The boost gauge does flutter a bit when WOT but have bought an inline filter to see if that dampens it. The gauge doesn't flutter until over 1.6bar, it can be held steady below that pressure no problem.

I have two gauges for reading boost pressure, a new glowshift analogue and new digital AEM gauge. Both give the same reading.

How many people have used RS2 VStream chipsets and what kind of boost pressure were you getting?

    Cheers lads

The difference between 1.8 and 1.9 bar is an accurate boost gauge

Yeh i agree there could be discrepancies with gauges but both read exactly the same and have been tested with a Midyvac. I'm fairly happy that the new gauges are reading correct.

I guess it's my OCD, if the chips are indeed rated for 1.9 bar i'd like to figure whats causing the issue. Just a bit annoying thats all. Car still goes very well at 1.8 bar but every wee bit of boost counts!! hehe

People reporting 1.9bar could be seeing inaccurate figures of course.
I guess you need to ask Paul what the boost target is on RS2 Homefries

Yeh thats quite possible alright, don't see much of Paul on here recently but i guess i may as well send him a PM to see what he says. He did sent me a message at the time of buying the chips with these details , but they've been deleted now and can't rem what he said! Typical.

I have a 1.9 bar ecu that only actually gives 1.9 when I am in 5th or 6th gear, otherwise it's about 1.5bar

Where is the boost gauge connected?

The gauge is tee'd in to the back of the inlet manifold. What you thinking?
