With the exception of oil volume, the two filters do appear to have the same spec.

I checked that too, but I couldn't find anything on particle filtration size

I would certainly help to increase the overall oil volume, if nothing more. And it would be a whole lot easier to change with the hex on the end.

That was my question about Mobil 1™ Extended Performance Oil Filters .... seems that no one has experience with these ones yet ?

Just about to do an oil change so thought I'd try get it right this time as last time i ended up with a bigger filter but not this one, helped with my oil pressure on idle too up by .5 bar

The old website used to list the filtration specs in microns. From memory it was the same as the 719/5 for the 10v motors, the 719/30 had better filtering. Makes sense to me as diesels motors produce a lot of soot in the oil which could potentiallyplug up a filter.

the part# are telling the spec (t's a geman company). The W means screw on oil filter. My guess is that the /30 means 30µm pores, and the /4 thus 4µm, but it's just a guess.
(my dad used to sell Mann filters, if he were still alive he could probably have told from the number what spec the filter is)

                  it does say
Efficiency rating based on removing particles greater than 30 microns
but that could be the standard for an oil filter
