Can someone tell me what this is?

Hi, see the attached image, I would like to know what this part under the inlet manifold is and what it does. It looks like a pipe should be attached to the bottom but I don't know where from.

It hasn't been connected since I put the engine in the car so I'm assuming it isn't important but still curious. Thanks

It is for the cruise control. It should have a vacuum line attached to it and there should be an arm to the throttle body

Thanks, I don't have cruise so it looks like I can leave it as it is with no ill effects.

Cruise Control Info

Jonas R has it correctly. It is item 3 in this diagram (for AANs) and Item 20 in the second diagram (for B3/B4s). The photo is the AAN equivalent to yours
