    ABY vag com measuring blocks

Hi! Recently, the engine of an friend of mine has developed a strange issue...
Dosint want to go in overboost...1.9 bar max. Was boosting to 2.1 before..
Throttle cable and TPS ok. No boost leaks.
Connected vagcom and the ignition angle is on minus all the time.
I miss something or is just an vagcom issue?
    Iff not...timing out?
    What should i check?
    Thank You!
    All the best!
    Eugen

Interesting.... I wonder if the ignition figure is correct and that Vagcom displays this way.

Can anyone confirm the ignition reading always has "-" symbol in front of it?

    Here is mine at idle...

Its like ecu is retarding ignition to get desired idle. I saw it when people try to rise their idle manualy by throttle stopper. TPS sensor will still read correctly, becouse will be adjusted again to click on close, after stopped adjustment. So it cover the issue.
Or some leak on PCV system or vacuum system ect.

The pcv system has been completely replaced by swirl pot and catch tank... no leaks with it... pretty sure no leaks with any if the vac lines...

              Could it be timing related?

What would happen if it was one tooth out on the cambelt -crank to cam alignment?

Are you sure you disconnected all hoses comming to intake manifold when you install pot and catch tank? Its a bit messy system, the evap is conencted with pcv vacuum system. There is one way valve(check valve) so when you make pressure leak test, its closed = you can find nothing, but when vacuum.... Sorry if i telling you something you already know.

I think one tooth is too big missmatch and ecu recognize it , set DTC of G40 and engine will not start.

Fair point, but yes.... its all gone and nothing remains... 99% sure there are no leaks in either pressure or vacuum....

I agree... 1 tooth out is probably too big a difference....

Not sure where to go now...

Here is a screenshot with car started and held at 3000 rpm...

As you can see, ignition angle is more than -30° !!

Surely this can't be right and there is something odd going on with Vagcom and it's interpretation of the sensor??

I'll run vagcom on my coupe, see if it's the same. Maybe something weird

I spose it could be the chips?

-9 degrees is 9 degrees before top dead center. The field is labeled different for some people which is probably just a different version of vagcom, it still means the same thing.
