Had similar problem. But I got pressure once syringe'ing oil into the pump via the oil temp sensor hole. Instant pressure after that.

Here you can see oil feed hoses for head and turbo.

This system i much better for our engines. Of course, if you have solid lifters and modified head.

          When

When i was going to build up oil pressure in my rebuilt AAN it took like 60sec on the starter in total before i saw oilpressure build up. I used assembly lube on every part so it didn't cranked dry. Also no plugs installed.

I had no pressure after a rebuild. Take the cotton reel looking pressure sensor out and syringe plenty of oil in. Then replace the sensor and crank for 30 seconds. Give it another try.

Hi, Just rebuilt my 7A 20v engine, was told if I was using the original or new oil pump to remove the back plate and pack the oil pump with Vaseline to help it to prime when starting, also use mineral oil to aid rings bedding in, I also tried to prime engine oil with starter motor and the oil pressure gauge never moved, so, just started it and after a few seconds the oil pressure was at 5 bar, new cam tappets did rattle for a bit, also don't let a newly built engine idle, the engine speed must be above 1500rpm to keep the pistons parallel to the cylinder bores.

Hi, at last. My o pressure is fine now, all 5bar at idle on cold start. Cranking with starter does not helped, so I just fired the engine and in few seconds there were 5bar. Thanks to all who tried to help me!! ))
