    Engine start blocked by immobilizer

    Hello guys,

So finally got my vcds sorted and did the scan. A lot of code came up but after clearing all of them and rescanning this came up. Can some one help me with immobilizer?

My key fob buttons stopped working a while ago (reason i bought vcds) for no reason. Car starts normally. I read a lot about reseting or pairing the fob to the car again but all require at least two keys, however, I have only 1. Can someone explain or help how to fix this issue?
    Some pictures bellow:

PS: could i use 3 button key and open the trunk?

What car is it for? If you want to pair your key giv fur remote central locking you can pair 1 key if you wish with vcds.

At a guess it's a B6 A4? I would not worry about the immob code, just go into remote key settings and try pairing your remote central locking. The guide is on Ross-tech website. I know a few A4s that would periodically fall out with the key and stop doing remote central locking. A fresh battery and a pair up and all was good again.

Adaptation value will be 1 ( 1 key)
That's how I read it anyway.
Make sure battery is new in the key fob.

There's also a way you can do it on the car without vcds, maybe that needs 2 keys though, I know I've had to do it on the B5

Its a 1997/10 audi 80 cabriolet. My bad for not stating it before. I have tried to use common sense and internet today, but no luck. Neither with vcds nor with buttons on key fob. Explanation on either method would help a lot. On ross tech guide they write about 2 keys. Batteries are new as this was the first thing i thought was wrong.

TT (Mk1) Discussion - Reprogramming key fob after battery replacement - After I had my car battery replaced yesterday, my remote entry key no longer works. I understand that there are ways of reprogramming the key using the second key or the valet key. Unfortunately I lost my second key and did not receive a valet...

              ""Single-key reprogramming
There's a procedure in the manual for this, page 61. Well, it's not exactly reprogramming, it's more like re-Synchronizing. Due to the rolling code mechanism, if you press a button too many times while you're out of range, you lose sync with the vehicle. To reset this, they advise a 2-step procedure.

              1. Press either LOCK or UNLOCK on the keyfob *one* time only.
              2. Within 60 secs, use the key to manually lock or unlock the driver's door.

The keyfob should work again. (I've done it after my fob no longer worked after battery replacement, it works.)

On the multi-key programming procedure above, it DOES work, so thanks! Interesting note: the key that's *in the ignition* for that procedure does NOT need to have a valid immobilizer transponder chip; the car apparently doesn't check for that before allowing additional fobs to be registered. Also, the procedure worked even when *none* of my fobs were workable, even after trying the page 61 procedure spelled out above.

              So, once again, Thanks!

Also look at the measuring blocks on vcds to see if it even recognises the key as working? It could just be the fob had died. Does your key have the little red led light that blinks when a key is pressed?

Is there any faults stored in immobiliser? This error usually comes up due to loose connection to immobiliser pickup coil (around ignition lock).
I don't know exact procedure for vacuum type central locking key for synchronising, but turning ignition on and pressing fob buttons worked for me after battery change. In vcds central locking measuring blocks they were groups 002 and 003 (or 003 & 004) IIRC where you can check if control unit actually sees the key. One group was for programmed keys, other for unknown keys.
You should be able to use 3 key fob if there's electric actuator inside bootlid (IIRC there was one in Cabrio or you can fit it yourself).

I saw this thread before and tried this method. Today i tried it again and nothing.

The key has no led light u fortunately.
I have checked today the measuring blocks with vcds in central lock module and this is what I got with all 4 groups:

And here i did the advanced measuring:

Also when i went to adaptation menu in central lock module all channels showed error (tried channel 01 all the way up to 99). When i read channel 00 it shows this:

I did not dear to click save and reset the settings, should I?

I think boot is always actuated to lock in a cabby when you move the hood?

I am not sure but my boot has some issues. Even though the car is locked i can open my boot via button on the lid. Anyway, this is the least of my problems. I need to fix my fob
