What can cause a running engine to stop without warning signs?
I had the same issue. Tried everything. What I found , was that if I swopped the ECU for another one, it would always start again, straight away.
Changed the chipset in the original ECU, and it worked flawless afterwards.
The S2 has no thermal fuses in the ECU circuits AFAIK.
However I have recently found normal fuses in my fuse box that have got hot due to corrosion on the contacts so I would definitely check the 2 "MOTOR" fuses in the small yellow cover (if it's still there).

Okey, thanks, Im running chips from Paul (s2central) and they have been working good, so dont think thats is the problem, but thanks for the advice, will keep it in mind if nothing else work

Changed the g40, but that was not the culprit:/ Anyway good to have changed it for the future
The problem was / is bad connection in the ecu connector on the back of the ecu. The ecu have been opened several times, when changing chipset, so maybe its just getting worn/tired?

I found out that I had not put the ecu all the way up behind the glovebox after I changed chipset before winter. Now I have put electronic cleaner on the connector and put the ecu back in place and it runs fine

Or you didn't have the T55 connector properly latched (cam-locked) onto the ECU?

Yes, it was fully connected, so dont know if there is a bad connection internal in ecu connector or if the clamp is not tight enough after been open several times

Well I skipped that part; I wasn't watching that closely was I.
Have you looked at your ecu and the connector? I can not see anything wrong with mine, but there is a bad connection in one or several of the pins / connectors
