    strange ignition problem when hot

My 3b coupe has developed a starting problem when the car is hot or when restarting.
I have a sigma alarm on it ,so you have to press the fob to get the ignition to light up.
When first starting the car from cold it starts every time, even starting ,and restarting several times no problem.
After a run however press the fob and the ignition lights come on as usual ,but when you turn the key the starter wont engage.
After repeated attempts the car will start.
Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

It could just be the starter getting hot, rather than anything going wrong with the alarm/immobiliser, I would pull the solenoid trigger wire off and stick a test lamp in it to see if it fires when trying to start it hot.

If it goes to 12V, then you have a dead starter, if not you'll need to follow the wire back through the starter relay and back to the ignition switch. My experience tells me the interrupt for the starter signal is right on the back of the ignition switch, most installers are too lazy to go much further than that.

did the starter have the small heatshield wrap thats around the smaller section of the starter motor?
