    Smell in the car

No I didn't have a curry last night

I'm getting a smell of breather fumes inside the car, I think, I'm pretty sure its not exhaust .. Is it possible the pcv system is leaking into the car? how does the pipe to the fuel tank route? I'm wondering if boost pressure is pumping fumes into the car, its not too strong but still noticable when I drive reasonably hard.

3 Lines run parallel from the gas tank to the motor compartment. One is the a vent for the gas tank and leads to the charcoal canister. The two others are the gas lines. All three of my lines are corroded as hell. Very local corrosion where it came in contact the Alu heat sheild. I suspect a galvanic element was created between the two metals. The lines are NOT cheap. 1900 kr = £146 for the 2 gas lines.

When i had a cracked exhaust manifold the fumes allways found a way into the car even with the heater switched off. Might be a leak somewhere on your downpipe....

Personally I would suspect the Exhaust system has a small leak somewhere....

Ok Yes, I'll be looking at the exhaust system pretty carefully then, its not fuel But i wondered if the carbon canister line was getting boost pressure..

I have a new plastic top to fit to the dipstick tube too as that is broken and repaired with a piece of rubber pipe.

Check the fuel lines. Leaky worn fuel lines can cost your life...

Its deff not the smell of fuel, although its a good idea to check the fuel lines.. Its more like a smell of hot oil, like if the breather is disconnected from the crankcase, except it isn't.
I have the usual RS2 Turbo symptoms, puff of smoke from the exhaust every now and then which is quite smelly. Its a bit like that but inside the car, driving along with the fan off and windows closed.

                      Ok well then...

-Check leaky PAS pump --> oil on engine block, smells like hot oil, not scorched oil
-Check leaky valve cover --> oil on EM (scorched) or OIL on engine block (hot)
-Check for leaks around timing cover (around cambelt and such)
