I am really not sure about this. I think we should be cautious about recommending this setting UNLESS the car has a problem as per Angus.
I will try to check mine when the chance arises and suggest any other RS2 owners do likewise
And what comes to the narrower hall plate gap I guess they want the timing to be more accurately set on the RS2. I guess..
The whole pulley mark issue is a bit strange as the pulley is unique for the ADU as the water pump is. This should mean that the smaller pump gear would not cause this. As Marco said the whole thing does not sound very "german".
Why? Germans make plenty of mistakes, who remembers the recall on the BMW's because you could open them with half a tennis ball on the lock give it a tap all the locks popped open.
When it comes to how my car runs , Had problems for one it pinks alot it is also down on power have never been to happy with it . so as i see it i need to retard the timing which seems correct as she seem to run to much advance suppose i will see !!!

I can second that, when we done t belt the marks did not line up.
Marks did not line up b4 or after we skimmed head and after we added second thiker hg.

Rob, mine do not line up either, I am using the ADU belt and ADU water pump with the ABY cam pulley.
Out of interest how have you got yours timed up? Do you have the pulley mark before the cam cover timing mark or after (left or right of it)?
Er, this is not an exact science IMO. The cam timing on most of these cars doesnt sit exactly spot on the marks. Very un-german i know, but true. The only way to see if its right is to either mark your own marks if the car is running ok. Or if not, move the cam a notch in the opposite direction. They line up half a tooth either way.
