smell of fuel when on boost at high revs

hi i have a s2 estate (aby) the car has been modi. it has a kkk26/27 turbo rs2 injectors and a rs2 ic. when you drive it off boost it's fine. when you drive it hard on boost about 5k rpms in 3rd gear it starts to smell of fuel. i was wondering if it was the inlet manifold gasket . i can't see any leaks

    thanks nick

Have you checked the fuel lines are not leaking? They have a tendency to corrode under the heatshield near the downpipe.

I have also a question about Fuel smell but it is not in the car but on the passenger side (left hand drive) near the firewall over the EM and only with warm engine (i have noticed it today after stop and go traffic. What can it be? Where is this carbon canister? Does it smell?

This may or may not help but for the UrS4s, there was a fuel line recall in North America (USA and Canada). The braided stainless steel line had a problem near the fuel filter (located on the right hand side of the engine bay (from the drivers perspective, left hand when you are out staring at the engine bay from the front). The rubber gasket inside the crimp gets brittle with the heat from the turbo and begins to leak. The recall ("KY" campaign - who says those Audi management types don't have a sense of humour), involved replacing the braided fuel line with hard metals lines.

This could be your problem (or not).

I had this when my injector seals were leaking, probably these or the inlet mani gasket. If it was a fuel line problem it would be there off boost too.

My problem was not on Boost but only when i shut the car off or at idle. Sometimes i can smell something there sometimes not.

The RS2 has the fuel filter at the rear of the car.

OK, i think i have a leaking fuel line. The point must be there where the lines go from the firewall under the car.

I've had exactly the same experience TWICE and for 2 different reasons, first time was a fooked lambda - a new one sorted it and it no longer smelt rich when I hammered it.
Second time was when I blew a boost hose (because I'd just fitted the homefry!) and basically, the ecu was supplying the correct amount of fuel for the conditions BUT because of the boost leak, not enough air was getting in to make the mixture schiometric(?) therefore unburnt, stinky fuel whenever on boost!
Check both if I was you
