The fuel pipes on these cars are old and have been known to leak at this age. You will have to replace them, you might aswell do them all while you are at it.Kingdoms are run by Kings, Dictatorships are run by Dictators.

This is a common problem. I just finished repairing an S2 yesterday with this. THe rubber mounts hold the water and so the pipes rust inside the rubber.
The proper way to fix it would be to replace all of them. If you want to just cut that section out you can do, and replace with a short section of rubber fuel hose. If you do this - remove all the metal clips along the length of the hoses under the car as you will probably find another part will start leaking if you force the metal pipes.
The clips are a bit fiddly - use a screw driver in behind the fixed part of the clip(between the clip and underside of the car) to stop it moving - then another screwdriver to push the other half out. Hard to describe!

Yep, just done mine 2 weeks ago. Do as said above and do the lot, don't mess around replacing a little bit as you'll find yourself back under in a week or two.
I went to my local plumbing centre and got hold of some stainless steel microbore heating pipe and completly replaced the whole three lines visable under the car.
Cut them at the front where the lines emerge from the heat shielding and at the back where they drop down in front of the rear diff.
Used some fuel injection grade rubber hose to join the new pipe to the old, and most important of all, used proper hose clamps not jubilee clips.
Now the underside of the car has "bling" fuel lines

I payed a tenner for the pipe, but I know a guy who works there, so not sure on the normal price, sorry.
I got the hose (dunlop fuel injection hose) and hose clamps from good old halfords.
They had a selection of different size hose, so I just took the stainless steel pipe into the store with me and got a size that was a nice tight fit.

Hi got some microbore pipe in the garage which is coated in rubber. Do these fuel lines get very hot? Im just worrried if use the rubber coated lines the rubber will melt. Also would i need some high pressure microbore pipes or do these not exist?3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips

I used rubber fuel injection pipe on the previous 2 coupes (not S2's but very very similar underneath pipe wise) and never had a problem.Originally posted by stevieyidHi got some microbore pipe in the garage which is coated in rubber. My reason for this time using a solid pipe instead of the rubber, was that previously I couldn't get the rubber pipe to go through the rubber hangers without taking them off and reaming them out, bit of a PITA both times. I could have just used normal copper microbore piping but thought stainless steel was the better option seeing as my mate works at the plumbing suppliers and I could get either for next to nothing.
Not sure what spec the rubber coating on the pipe you have is Steve, for peace of mind I'd rather use a solid line, good spec fuel injection hose or even the real deal from either vagparts or the stealers. I can't see the pipes underneath being subjected to that much heat, but, as the saying goes "**** happens" (hmmm, and don't I know it
) I'd use either a solid metal line or pukka fuel injection hose, just to be safe.
Nothing wrong with a bit of "bling" StuOriginally posted by 4WheelDrifterOh, Jas!! Blinging up the underside of your car now?!
