We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
1. Can anyone tell me if this will enhance performance (car has homefry)?
2. Can anyone point me to a thread that tells me what I need to fit it?
Cheers lads

Colder air will result by way of the RS2 intercooler, so there is definitely a benefit - again unquantified in isolation on a chipped car. If you have VAG-COM it would be useful to log intake air temps on WOT runs before and after fitting the RS2-IC. From that we can estimate the theroretical additional power made possible by the (hopefully) colder air.
I hope this isn't construed as off topic but.......
Is there an optimal size of intercooler? Surely a larger intercooler must contribute to some delay in pick up time as the intercooler has to fill before the air can be forced into the engine? Is there an optimal trade off between heat reduction, and time to fill the intercooler?
Yes there is. It is related to the turbo, EM, IM, mapping etc. It is very individual in the sense that all the parts of the engine has influence in the need of IC capacity. I'd say that as small as possible is way to go. Now, in my book "possible" means without any loss in perofrmance. A bigger IC will give you lag period. Yes, a bigger IC will/might/should cool the air more but the effect it has on overall efficency and running of the engine is not that clear. By stating this I guess there will be alot of opinions.
The only way to really know is to check temp before and after the IC. Too hot --> go bigger or more efficient. Low? Maybe you can go down a bit. All this testing takes time and money but if you start with a S2 ABY, then go RS2 you pretty soon see what you need... That is the right way to do it. Most peaople just check auto magazines, see a car with an IC the size of barndoor and just buy one just like it.
