Im not sure how accurate the average MPG counter is, but we had an average of 24mpg going up the A470 the whole length of wales! Only burned half a tank! BUT we were overtaking whenever we could and reached 100 many times on the straights! We saw it go down to 9mpg when we overtook a few times using the length of 3rd gear!
Does this MPG sound right??

It depends 95% on your driving style me thinks (Especially if your car is maintained)
I got 26.6 MPG this morning driving from South Harrow to Kingston-upon-Thames, about 15 miles, in light traffic, averaging 17 mph.
I didn't really measure before but incidently I put in a K&N flat panel and cleaned the MAF with Electrical Solvent Cleaner yesterday. Should be interesting to see what I can get on the open road now, at the speed limit.Comment

How many miles per gallon do you reckon you were getting before the MRC remap? Just wondering how many miles I'd have to do to be able to justify a remap purely on economic grounds ...

In the five months that i have owned the car i have an average mpg of 20. Varied driving styles and distances, but the worse i had was while having a bit of a play one night after a meet. i managed 3 mpg at one point.
I wont tell you what speed i was doing though.

My car was remapped my the Maestro at MRC last September and is running the same mpg as before! Long term average 18.9 mpg combined (track days included!) Prior to the re-map it was 19.0.
The re-map will not pay for itself in oure terms of improved mpg. However, smiles per mile is greatly increased!!
What's been interesting to monitor is the % difference between the computer mpg (re-set for each tank) and the actual, calculated per full tank on actual mileage. So far the average discrepancy is that the computer is 20% below the actual.
Does anyone know of a means to re-calibrate the computer mpg?
The largest error was -38% on a tank and smallest -14%RS2+ (now sold...)Comment

WoW, nigh on two years and I've increased mpg to an average of 29.8 now
New OEM coilpacks, recent plug change and recent lambda (within the last 3-4months) have done me well it seems.
I'm chuffed with that..

The computer is telling me 27.2mpg at an average speed of 40 which is a mix of long motorway drives (100+ mile commuting) and pottering round to the shops etc.
Record high was c. 32mpg on a loooong drive from London to Scotland done mostly on the cruise control at a safe 70mph.
Record low (note that it is the average and not just the instantaneous) is in the below picture...

At last... all you guys talking about mpg... i thought this was a forbidden subject on this forum among the petrol heads!!!
My unmodd'd ABY S2 sticks around 22-23 mpg on the trip computer ... that's mostly town driving for my short home-work commute. BUT I know on a long run to Cornwall and back on open roads (incl flying now and then) it was saying 28... although I did some fun driving through Somerset the other day and the tank emptied so fasti could hear the whooooossshshhhh of petrol pouring into the engine!!
It's re-assuring to hear so many of you saying around 20mpg is "normal"
PSOLD !

If 20 is normal then I wish I was more normal.
The best I have seen was the night I picked the car up and drove it back from the other side of London. Clear roads and the cruise set at 70mph all the way home (except roadworks) average of 24 mpg and that was zeroed when i got on the motorway.
Usually around the 16mpg mark but ha the caravan on the back last night (going to South Wales tonight) and it has come down to 13.

just wanted ask - is everyone talking about their computer figures per tank or REAL figures calculated by full tank to full tank and actual mileage?
If it's the computer this would help explaing the rather large variance!RS2+ (now sold...)Comment
