I've been told that without the cross (as in original filter box to prevent turbulences in the MAF) the car may run lean especially when driving low load.

I've been told that without the cross (as in original filter box to prevent turbulences in the MAF) the car may run lean especially when driving low load.

Could be.

You see we put Will's MAF on mine engine and just trashed a bit down M67, the A/F readings were towards rich readings under boost, when with my MAF I getting very lean (no A/F readings) under boost.

So it seems my MAF can not read air mass under boost
