Just to add...... new cables were something like £60 from stealer if a new one is needed... or at least they were a couple of years ago anyway

That's right for a 3B. Retail from main stealers is £15.71 + VAT

ABY uses 8A2 721 555 K which is the same price.

There is a workshop procedure for setting the throttle cable tension using the workshop computer or VAGCOM. It involves measuring the throttle angle to make sure it's in spec. Basically a long winded way of doing it manually.
