Black look to ellipsoid lights

Have you guys done these mods to the headlights. I mean painting the useless shiny parts inside the headlights black giving the car quite a different look. What to paint? Any MOT problems? If someone is planning to do this some pictures of the process would be appreciated.
Seems to be quite popular mod in Germany.

I still have the h4/h1 units but I'll probably change them for just the looks. The h4/h1:s are really good so changing them is no real upgrade, I think.

Hmmh. Right. I think the Germans have a way of making them darker...

My glass is pitted so becasue of the light in the last pic, they didn't really show up.

You decide what parts to paint and paint by hand - if you try and mask it, the chrome will come off.

O just used a a smooth hammerite - seems to work well for me - brush strokes cannot be seen though the lense.

None of the actual reflective parts of the bulbs have been painted on mine. - I'm not sure about my sidelights - they could do with being painted all black and getting a reflecive cone put in for some reflection.
