    Question for avant owners...

Anyone ever had any water dripping in and building up at the rear hatch's inner card and when you open the hatch, water is dripping out from the locks?

I noticed that with mine. What happens is that no water is coming into the car.BUT when i open the hatch,i get water dripping off the locks of the hatch and the hatch trim at the bottom, and if i open the hatch fully the water glides down over the plastic pillar.

I can only imagine 2 ways in for the water.

    1) the rear lights, although they seem very dry and give no signs of leaks
    2) over the top 2 corners of the rubber sealant, the rubber comes very close to the plastic pillar of ther hatch, and there might be a possibility of water or droplets coming in the car and slowly gliding down and gathering up behind the trim.

Now i got me some silicone and sealed the 2 upper corners,as well as tried to calibrate the hatch by manipulating the screws on top so as to have a better closure, but im uncertain if i have found the source.

Anyone else has had any leaky rear trim or sorts,to give me a few pointers?

    cheers

      Vasilis,

I've had exactly the problem. Real easy to fix too. The water hose is loose where it fits onto your rear washer port on the rear wiper motor. If you look at it when someone uses the washer jet you will see it leak.

      Cheers,

from what i could notice now that the rain stoped a bit and had a chance to look is that water is soaking its way down through the right rear side of the rear door, from where the hose for the water jet and the plastic tube for the locking mechanism comes.Does not seem that the hose is leaking, tested it and it is ok.Again when i opened the trunk,a fair amount of water ran out from the right trim having soaked the corner....

i cannot pinpoint it... the rubber seal on that side is 100% ok and secure.Im starting to think wether there is a possibility of the rear roof trim has anything to do with as there has been a hole on the door for the cable of the stop light to pass through...It would hard to imagine as water going through there,as the trim covers the whole area and it is glued on there...

Since this is not an isolated problem, it sounds to me like the coffin carriers are no better than the stylish Coupes after all

today i noticed the pool again and tried to seal off some usual spots.I also removed 2 plastic caps on the bottom of the rear hatch, which are used as a drain. At least the water can go out...until i find the way it comes in...

Hopefully it doesnt find its way in the car or trunk,so that is a good thing.

ingress of water in the tailgate of Avants?

                  Affecting mine also.

                            Hi,

Water still getting into mine, might sound daft but too busy driving it, plus a lack of time when I'm not.

                            Thanks.
