You can get just the cables for coupes although most stealers will try and sell you the whole regulator (I know because I tried to the other day )

On the avants it's a window regulator without motor.

In either case there around £50-65 +VAT. Let me know which window and what car it's for and I'll get a part number for you.

It's possible to do it with an inner cable from a bicycle shop. I repaired the winder on my urq with a cable from halfords, it's not easy though, a few hours fiddling around and swearing a lot.. You have to make up your own nipples for the ends of the cable once you've cut it to the right length, take the old cable out, working somewhere where you can find the bits that you drop and measure very carefully... For the nipples I cut short bits from a cheap wood screw, drilled a 1 or 1.5mm hole through them (to suit the cable), slipped them on the cable and hit with a hammer to crimp them on, still working 2 yrs later! And a great sense of achievement, mind you cables are NLA for the ur so you have to do it

Spink, I'm sure it will be

http://www.20v.org/doorroof.htm#regulator they list a drivers side part number ( LHD) but they sit on the wrong side of the car of course!

              You'll be wanting an 895 837 726 B (retail £50.57 + VAT)

and yes it is the same as an S2 and any other 89-96 coupe and cabrios.

                Hi,
I broke a cable on my S2 drivers side winder, it stuffed me around for weeks. i experimented with all kinds of ways to repair it. I tried the cycle cable, but they aren't the same diameter. i eventually found an engineers shop and bought a meter of the correct size cable and made nipples similar to the wood screw method. i had to recrimp the nipple - i'm not sure if the cable streched or what. Just make sure if you replace the cable yourself, you do not over tighten the lug that locks the cable in place. You have no chance of getting that little lug, i ended up making a boere plan to fix that, but for six months i have had no problem.
