Well that could have worked but I have just got back from a weeks pisss up in Portugal.
Don't want anymore ale for at least two months!
I will be able to sort the painting of members cars, I just need to get my new workshop finished! with more room and a new booth then things will turn around faster and keep the quality I will only accept. Painting the easy part, its how "straight" you want is where the prices come from. WHere I used to work at the Aston Martin specialists, fifteen years ago a bare metal full paint on a DB5 was £6500.
I could say a few things about other contries work standards but we would be here all day. I was offered a repair and paint on a vehicle whilst in Portugal. Looks like i'll be packing my tools and off for some winter sun and getting paid!!!!

I do know of a good body shop, I know its a decent set up as I used to work there and have had three cars fully resprayed there. The thing is a very good (S2 owning) mate of mine is very likely to be taking over the business in the new year, he guy who owns it wants to retire. Anyhow their in Brecon in mid Wales if anyone would like contact details let me know.

I want mine done as well but I'm waiting for my mate to take over as I can do all my own prep then saving a fortune (hopefully). I'm still going to be spending well north of a grand though.

I've been enquiring about this as of late, the cheapest I was quoted was £1500, and that is a pretty good job, I've used him plenty of times before that. The other place I tried, basically laughed, told me it would be at least £2500 and take around 4-5 months. Bodyshops dont want to seem to touch older cars, you may have to go for a classic car restoration company perhaps.

A very good factory respray with all of the glass out would come in around 2100 on an S2, a show respray would be 3000 ish.

No, but if there are areas of rust, or stone chips then these need to be welded, lead loaded and re zinced. Most of the paint needs to come off to get a good finish.

You could get a budget job for about 1K / 1.5K.
Or a fairly high standard one for about 2k / 3K.
Or to do a top level factory standard it going to be 4K+.

Thats cheap, Had my Cq done 5 years ago to bare metal with Zinc undercoat and a few new panels and result was a bankrupting £5600...
