need help to get my car open :(

i have a little problem with my car that i hope someone maybe could help me with.

before i went on holiday for cristmas i locked my car using just the central locking, and now the battery is flat because of the cold weather that have been around cristmas time. i tried to use my keyes to open the door but it didn't work either. i called the owner before me and he told me that the locks where changed and that he haven't had the time to make them fit to that key yet.

so, how can i get into my car without braking any glas?

please send answers on pm since i don't wont the info to get into the wrong hands of other people that doesn't use the info for good purpose!!

    b.t.w it's a 91 coupè

      1. remove the plastic tray underneath the engine.
      2. lie underneath the car (legs hanging out the front).
      3. stick your arms up beside the engine block on each side - you should be able to reach the springs that are activated by the bonnet release cable.
      4. push the springs to the side and they will release the bonnet catches.
      5. do both sides and you should be able to open the bonnet and recharge the battery.
      6. drive round to previous owner and show them how you feel

if you get the undertray off and lie underneath could you connect 12v to something else that will give the whole circuit juice? I'm thinking starter motor but that might engage the starter solidly until you disconnect the 12v again. Surely there's something else within reach? You'd hopefully only need to have the 12v connected long enough for someone to press the button on the remote and open the doors.

How about you get the undertray off, spring the bonnet as described above and then find a permanenet + and - inside to connect your 12v to just for long enough to open the doors?

          hmmmmm......

The 12V feed at the starter is perfectly good... Starter is only energised by ignition key switch which activates the solenoid...

Might be easier to attach jumper cable to the alternator output though - easier to access near front of car with utray off.

simply prize the window slightly, insert a cable tie with a slight loop enough to fit over knob, once the loop is tightened pull the cable tie upwards and this will pull the knob up allowing you to open the door it worked on my corrado vr6 when it decided to lock itself with the engine running aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. give it a go what else have you got to loose!!!!

@Steve - go and look at an S2 with its doors locked... Ain't know way a tywrap i doing that trick. The utray method is the only real answer here IMHO.

Hmm, don't think that will work as there's not enough of the knob exposed to get any purchase,.

However I have managed to get it to my Coupe along similar lines only using a a long thin knife with a very sharp point instead a a cable tie.

                    EDIT - Too much information.

I had to do this the day after picking my S2 up as the lock arm broke in the drivers door and both the passenger door and boot were on different key's which I didn't have. It took me about half an hour of head scratching to come up with the idea but once I had it took about 2 minuets to get the door open.

I have since changed the whole lock set and shorten the rods the knobs go onto to prevent anyone else doing the same. Once I did it I was concerned about just how easy it was.

Basically slide the knife "blade up!!" between the window and the door seal and stab the point into the knob, then using a screw driver as a pivot point where the knife goes in lever the knob up. You will find you have to put a slight bend in the knife to get it to reach.
Again, nice trick if you have the knobs which stick up when locked (like the 2 RS2's at the Autosports show) but my MY95 Coupe and most others I have seen have flush knobs when locked.

I think you have 3 real options: -

                      1. Follow the advice above to gain entry to the engine bay, then hook up a spare battery.

                      2. Get a good garage to open the car as many have some special tools. The only difference is that these comes with a list of cars and which one to use.

                      3. Also bit too much info...

We went to my mates garage to unlock a friends car...

                      Cheers n

Yeah, if the knobs go down into the door card then my method will not work. The ones on my 3B used to sit ever so slightly proud of the door card, literally only about 1mm but this was enough for me to get in.

Like I said above I have now modified the rods so the sit down about 4mm inside the door card, no chance now.
