    Coupe tailgate lock faulty

Anybody gotta BTDT before I start looking for bigger hammers ?

Tailgate only opens with the key at the moment. The number of times that I have closed the boot, returned to the drivers seat with the key hanging out the back of the car has got past a joke.

When it used to work I could lock/unlock with the remote and then just press the tailgate button when I needed to open it, but now I have to insert the key turn to the right and only then does the tailgate open.

It has done this once or twice in the past - but a quick waggle, thump on the panel has always resolved it - thinking a somewhat more technical approach is required.

Paul i had this on one of my coupes, There is a little bracket in the barrel and if that's snapped than you need to turn it by key each time you want to open it,

I have a spare barrel + key's for it here if you need one.

      Cheers.

I'll have to climb into the boot here and see wassup... Thanks chaps. The audible 'thunk' of it locking/unlocking has disappeared so maybe that points to the actuator from the c/locking system.

                Boot Lock

                Hi Paul,

Picked up my 95 S2 coupe just before Christmas with the boot not un-locking!

White plastic bracket needed turned over and snapped onto galvanised rod - problem solved!

Yes you do need to climb into the back for this. Maybe time to upgrade those speakers when you're passing???

Might be stating the obvious here, but there's two positions for the boot lock.

Turn to horizontal and remove the key = Boot is locked and unlocked via the central locking.

Turn to vertical and remove the key = boot locked at all times.

If you are having to insert the key and turn to the right to unlock, suggests you have the wrong position.

FFS Jas11n - credit me with some intelligence here... The key position on the lock has been horizontal for ~8yrs.
