Coupe boot lock failure, tumbler replacement?

The boot lock on my coupe has failed. It won't open with the key or central locking.

Part of the lock body has sheared off where it connects to the latch release rod.

Pulling the rod from inside the boot gives the unlocking sound but it still fails to disengage. Possibly because I need to pull the rod a little bit harder.

I'm also wondering if anyone has a procedure (factory or DIY) on how to swap my lock cylinder/tumbler into a used replacement? Even if I could swap over the broken lever that may simplify things further still.

Does anyone know if you can use a boot lock from a car with a factory fitted alarm in a car which doesn't have this installed?

    In other words can I replace 895 862 055 with 895 862 055 C?
I reckon it is possible by removing the microswitch mounting bracket should be enough. I'd be interested to hear if there are any BTDTs on this too?

    Whatcha got?

I'll see what the manuals show on this - I'm overdue a look at this as mine only works with key...

Okay thanks Paul. Lets hope its a bit easier to do than the ignition switch eh?
I've heard that it be a wee bit tricky to do.

I have re-tumbled a rivers door lock. Not to bad once the lock barrel is out.

        cheers

I think I need to knock out the little pin in the centre of the lock mech. This should allow me to dismantle the assembly and swap over the barrel. You can see it in the centre of this pic.

as Rich said, its pretty easy to put your existing lock pins into another barrel so you can keep the same key - just don't get them mixed up when you take them out

Once that roll pin is out, remove the alu bracket on the end.
You'll only get the barrel out of the body by inserting the key, otherwise the tumblers won't retract.

Some top tips there chaps thankyou. I think I'll start with the spare lock first for practice, that way there should be no surprises or mishaps when tackling the one on the car.

Repaired my faulty boot lock today - well at least temporarily.

It had stopped letting me pop it open without the key. Lying inside the car, with the trim removed, and remote locking fob in hand it was easy to see what was wrong. You could see the actuator that locks/unlocks the boot was struggling to move properly. Whilst it was moving enough to unlock the lock - it wasn't moving enough so that a button press on the lock would move the open rod.

So I removed the lock and sure enough was unable to move the locking bar by hand. Plenty of compressed air to banish any dirt and some judicious application of silicon lube had it moving again. Its still quite tight - when it unlocks now it makes an especially loud thunk. I have it on video - sad I know - but its easier to see WTF is happening than me explaining it here after two 'E's and a bottla mundies.....
