    new front bumper

I wanted something a little different, so I had my S2 front bumper modified.

They can have my car when they pry my cold dead fingers from the steering wheel.

Very nice. A departure from the traditional RS2 job.

Basically I had the body shop insert a wedge in the side of the bumper and expand the opening. They glassed in the wedge, made the two posts from surf board shaping foam and glassed those in. They made the lower grills using Kamei grill material to match the hood grill. They used tiny screws with angle brackets to secure the grills to the bumper.

Thank you. Since we never got the B4 coupe in the states, the hood was added as was front and rear S2 bumper. So parts of the car have been repainted, but most is stock. Of course, living in California helps preserve a car.

Top drawer job - really looks nice - actually not as 'aggressive' as the RS2 item but its unique, functional and just as pretty into the bargain. Respect !

That looks great Greg. very subtle, it looks especially clean as you don't have a front number plate. It'd be nice if we could drive around without front plates ( especially for the laser speed cameras!).

                  Keep up the good work.

                        Thanks David,
Actually in California we are required to have front plates also. But I never have run one, even on my first car 39 years ago. Front plates ruin the looks of a car. I have only been stopped once in all those years for not having a front plate, knock on wood. We have intersection stop light cameras now, so I will see how it goes.

Greg - do you have any build pics? Not that these two pics don't do the job, I'm after some inspiration.

                            HI,
No sorry, I had a reputable shop do it for me. They cut the sides, took out the supports for the grills, lowered it, used to small pieces of surfboard foam for the two new dividers, and then glassed everything.

For the grills, they took aluminum rod, bent it to fit the new openings and then JB welded the Kamei material to it. There are small angles riveted into the bumper and the screws were drilled through the aluminum rod. I wanted to be able to take off the grilles without removing the bumper.
