removal of mirror cap?

as the title, how do i remove the wing mirror back without knackering it? cheers

the back of the wing mirror as it needs taking off to re-paint sorry doh

With you now, the painted part is the wing mirror, the glass and black plastic trim clip onto it. To take it apart you have to start by pulling the glass off, its held on by clips arranged in circular pattern in the middle of the glass, i think the trick is to prise it as close to them as possible. I've never had to remove a good mirror but i know others who have so it is possible to do without breaking it.
