  • Sunroof still leaking

I seriously feel like putting a match to this damn car now. If i had another car this old S2 would be on it's last legs.

So I have to bodge another repair. Dunno why it was bone dry for 2 weeks since I found the split and gummed it up. Unless the heavier rain has found the next crack to weep in.

**** ******** **** and shyte - I cannot put up with this kak much longer.

How much do you like your sunroof? Silicone sealant and shut it once?

Or a less permanent method, what would happen if you opened the sunroof, smeared Vaseline all over the place, shut it and wiped down?

I feel the pain, sometimes you just get sickened, dry it out and take if for a drive and you will swear you will keep it forever, until you have to bail it out tomorrow morning.

I keep missing these days where it "doesn't rain".

                  Hello Paul,

                  no silicone!
Because it contains vinegar - so the roofparts could begin to rust.
Maybe the waterlines in front and back of the roof are only clogged.
                  Ore the cupperpipes are leaky.
In my case there was the long trim in the back of the mechanism broken.
And the water didnt flew in the correct line.
Can sent you pics for better understanding.

                    Some quick replies...

                    - deffo have drip trays OK - I posted a photo somewhere else of how it is either cracking or separating at a seam in the corner above drivers seat

                    - double garage - got of those alright, but its filled with ~2800 other reasons why the S2 doesn't have a dry home right now

                    - silicone... absolutely agreed - I am using a 'gutter sealant' product that doesn't have that acidic smell of silicone

                    - I live it Ireland... one of the wettest, dullest places in the northern hemisphere and yes I do question how / why the hell I ever came back

So I attacked it again yesterday with the sealant... it was damn tricky squeezing it in there 1st time with a contorted little finger so this time I used a wooden spatula (aka lollipop stick) to force the stuff good and firmly into where the gap has appeared. I am a bit more confident this time but I consider the car to be on its last and final warning now. If I can ever collect up a few grand to buy a 'new' car someday (when pigs fly over the house) then the S2 will quickly find itself being dismantled if it starts leaking again.

LOL - you aren't 1st to suggest that actually... spose it would be less embarrassing having that in the car than sitting on a damp patch - probably a frosty patch today. Could I sue Audi for their old car giving me pneumonia ? If I don't laugh about it I would just cry !

in good company Paul, arrived home from a long weekend to find mine with the familiar, misted up inside rear window due to damp inside in cold weather.
