Good advice here - strip out the inside trim so an experienced bodywork man can look at properly - plus it will save you time & labour.

Because of where it is and that kink on the shaped section I will be amazed if it doesnt need paint, but being down in that corner it should be possible to get a tidy repair done that blends in nicely.

Get as many quotes as possible would be my advice... unless you know a wizard body man that doesnt charge the earth.

Close, but not quite! it was the ball hitch of a trailer. the trailer had an inflatable boat on it and it would seem that the wind caught it and blew it into the car! I cant believe that it would have caused that much damage, but it's the only theory i have at the moment.

Sounds plausible enough... if your boat and trailer are insured, maybe you can go after them - LOL
