Avant boot grip breaks

I just broke my third boot grip in my second avant - I don't think I'm being very violent - have anyone else experienced this - maybe even found a repair method? It's the thin aluminium going through the holes in the door that breaks, så I don't think there's much room to spare.

its a very common failure on 80 avants so its not your fault,its quite often the 1st thing to sell on a car in a breakers yard as i have always had trouble getting one when in the same situation.I havn't looked into how it could be fixed myself.
