Bonnet pull mod?

Any one know what mod is needed to use a front grill that does not have the hole for the bonnet pull

On mine I took off the handle bit then bent the metal part till it would slip through the slats nicely, I think I also had to cut a very small part away from the uner side of one of the slats to allow it to go through enough to be able to pull it to release the bonnet. If you have a mesh type bonnet then I'm afraid I have no Idea.

I have heard you can bent the metal part for the handle down and perhaps extend it, then you can release it by sliding your fingers under the bottom edge of the bonnet to pull the trigger.
