Its about this time of year I get loads of water on the floor mat behind the drivers seat if it's been raining. I'm gonna have to have a good look into it, but what do you guys think is the most likely cause? Door seal?
bonnet pull cable grommet
door seals
sunroof drain tubes
windscreen area - has this been replaced before? If so this is probably the culprit. Loads of threads on this:
Yes the car has a sunroof (its a coupe). I have noticed that the seal on the sunroof is slightly pushed in where the two loose edges meet. Where do the drain tubes drain to?
To be honest the windscreen is in pretty poor condition. It is discoloured along the edge of the drivers side. The water problems are most likely a combination of different faults so I'll have to work my way through them.
Thanks gents, Yes the car has a sunroof (its a coupe). I have noticed that the seal on the sunroof is slightly pushed in where the two loose edges meet. Where do the drain tubes drain to?
The drains start in the four corners of the sunroof cassette, i.e. that you can see at the front and two that are way back in there. The front ones drain down the A-pillars and come out at the bottom of the front wings/fenders. The rear two go down the C-pillar and come out behind the rear wheels, behind the rear wheel well liners. You need to used the weedwacker plastic "string" from the top side, within the sunroof cassette.

Another problem is the black plastic/metal? Trim that is pop rivetted to the frame works loose and leaks water running off the roof round the back of it and runs down inside the door seal.

I might be wrong but I thought the rear drains on a coupe ran into the tailgate opening ??

Maybe. Get a spool of the grass trimmer (weed wacker) plastic "string" and push a length off the spool down the rear sunroof cassette drain hole and see where it comes out.

No, do the sunroof drains with an old speedo cable, much stronger if gunged up and still flexible
One of my a4 turbos used to fill footwell with water, was bonnet pull grommet missing

I'd proceed with caution though as it's easy to pierce or push the pipe off - I would have thought that a blocked sunroof drain would leave a damp patch on the headliner??
