Another wet Coupe - water through the blowers?

After a really heavy down pour this weekend, I found a good deal of rain water in the passenger footwell on my Coupe. I believe that water is getting in through the air blower. Has anyone else had this?

I'm fairly sure it has come in at that point, as it was damp in the plastic housing under the cabin air filter.

My thoughts are that perhaps there was too much for the plastic trim under the windscreen to cope with, and water was finding its way between the rubber trim pushed on to the bottom of the windscreen, and the plastic trim that channels the water away (see photo). I think it then poured in through the cabin air filter, and into the car from there.

Is anyone aware of a good way to fix this?

You've correctly identified the source of your leak.

The plastic trims aren't seated properly, they need to sit in the channel at the base of the screen, the windscreen rubber seal needs to be lifted over the plastic trim pieces to form a water tight seal.

Top tip: Remove the wiper arms from the spindles before you start.

Design flaw from Audi as the rubber lip isn't really big enough to cover the joint when the drop tray is installed anyway. I guess it does divert the worst of it though

The plastic can warp with age I used windscreen adhesive to stick mine down and get a seal,it's better than mastic/ silicone and you can get it off eBay for about a tenner

Been looking at the links, comments, along with dismantling my car tonight.

So my thoughts are that I need to get a bead of sealant in the edge of the metalwork that is furthest away from the windscreen, ie the lowest point on the diagram. Then I need to locate the plastic scuttle in place, and rubber trim so it all presses together and keeps the rain out. Does that sound about right?

Seems that my plastics are a little bit out of shape / warped, I guess due to age, so it no longer seals.

Just by way of finishing the thread, I have cured the leak.

I used the Silkaflex product that Vonbeck suggested (thanks mate), and can also recommend it. Simply apply it in the ridge under the windscreen where the plastics sit to get a rain proof seal.

                    Thanks again everyone.
